On December 11, 2017, "Maritime Silk Road Art Development Forum" opened in Quanzhou City. As an important part of the series of activities of "The 3rd Maritime Silk Road International Arts Festival", this forum aims to build a platform for communication and cooperation among all countries along the 'Maritime Silk Road', thoroughly explore the history, current situation and prospects of the 'Maritime Silk Road' culture and art, and actively promote the deep dialogue and exchange in the field of culture amoung “Maritime Silk Road”countries. 16 influential scholars from home and abroad were invited to participate in the forum. Their speeches and dialogues were held in different fields such as science and technology, politics, economy, arts and culture. Zhu Pei was invited to participate in the forum and delivered a speech entitled “Natural Architecture”under the topic of “Different Creation-Multiple Possibilities under the Context of the New Maritime Silk Road.” “Nature creates architecture, not human-made architecture.” From architectural perspective, Pei shared his thoughts on humanities, nature, architectural function and artistic spirit. “Natural architecture is neither a landscape architecture nor a green building. It is a natural attitude to find the source of human emotion through the laws of nature behind the building and to find the most basic, original and natural construction principles as well as the art-oriented spirit of art in China’s architectural aesthetics.” In his opinion, “all art, architecture and music have their own traditional roots and culture roots. However, if we want to create new possibilities in the context of “New Maritime Silk Road”, it is important to recreate on the basis of finding the root cause.”
