2021.04.27
Zhu Pei will be giving an online lecture on "Martin Centre Research Seminar Series 51", held by Department of Architecture, University of Cambridge. The lecture will start at 3PM BST, April 28th via ZOOM.
The topic of the lecture is "Roots - Rediscover Jingdezhen Contemporary". Zhu Pei's design philosophy is focused on Architecture of Nature, which explores the importance and relations between the root that grounds the work deeply into a specific nature and culture, and innovation that defines the revolutionary thinking to the architecture. The recent newly-built Imperial Kiln Museum in Jingdezhen presents a sensitive addition on a site of national significance yet one that simultaneously explores materiality and constructional innovation. In this talk Pei will trace the roots of his work and that inspiration through examinations of current design proposals.
