On the Cover: THE PLAN, Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum
2020.11.06
Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum has been featured on the cover of November issue of THE PLAN, and carried a 11-page in-depth article in LETTER FROM CHINA column. The issue included a commenting article A TIMELESS MONUMENT written by Li Xiangning, Dean & Professor of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning in Tongji University.
Prof. Li Xiangning thinks that the museum has allowed Jingdezhen to proudly reoccupy a seminal moment in Chinese artistic culture. The staggered geometric forms appear arranged randomly, a bit like an archaeological excavation site that reveals a medley of structures and artefacts from different eras. A tribute to China's cultural heritage, Studio Zhu-Pei's project is not only a local landmark for the city of Jingdezhen. It is also a striking example of contemporary architecture.
