On the evening of June 9, Brick Award 22 Winners were officially announced at the Brick Award Ceremony in Vienna. Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum, designed by Zhu Pei, Dean of the School of Architecture of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Founder of Studio Zhu Pei, is awarded the Grand Prize Winner selected by an international jury composed of well-known architects. So far, Brick Award has been successfully held for 10 times, which is the first time that Chinese architects and Chinese Architecture have won the Grand Prize of this international award!
Brick Award was founded by Wienerberger in 2004 and is held every two years to commend outstanding brick architecture and architects from all around the world. It is known as " The highest honor of brick architecture in the world ", making an indispensable contribution to designing healthy and future-proof living spaces. Showcasing the modernity and attractiveness of brick buildings under the consideration to the principles of sustainability, it enhances the technicality and innovation of the construction industry.
This year, 789 design projects from 53 countries participated in Brick Award 22, which has the highest number of entries in its history, demonstrating the internationality of this architecture award. The winners within the categories and the Grand Prize were selected by an international jury composed of well-known architects, including Brigitte Shim, Tina Gregoric, Ingrid van der Heijden, Jesper Gottlieb and Wilfried Kuehn.
Brick 22, a book that publishes nominated projects, is released globally by Park Books Press this summer.
