Zhu Pei, Dean of the School of Architecture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, a visiting professor at Yale University, Founder of Studio Zhu Pei,was invited to give a lecture on "Roots and Innovation" in the Spring 2023 Lecture Series organized by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, School of Architecture. The lecture will be conducted in-person on March 1, 6:15 PM (EST).
In this lecture, Zhu Pei will focus on a few recent works, which are Imperial Kiln Museum, Majiayao Ruins Museum & Observatory, OCT Art Center, and Zijing International Conference Center, to represent his design philosophy “Architecture of Nature” and ‘material’ propositions, and to explain how his philosophy gets translated across different tectonic terrains.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, located in Troy, near Albany, the capital of New York State, is a comprehensive research university founded in 1824. This architectural lecture series invites world-renowned architects sharing their practice, including Steven Holl, Francis Kere, Thomas Phifer, Seung H-Sang, and so on.
